J.I.D.

^^

When: Tuesday 4th February
Where:
Max Watts

Following up his two massive SOLD OUT shows earlier this year at Melbourne’s Max Watts, US rapper J.I.D has today announced Laneway Festival sideshows in both Sydney and Melbourne. The East Atlanta rapper will bring his unique, high-pitched sound to Max Watts in Sydney on Tuesday, February 4 and Melbourne’s 170 Russell on Wednesday, February 5. With an aim to rewrite the recently trap-heavy history of Atlanta, J.I.D, who earlier this year toured on the bass-heavy Hidden Festival, is returning Down Under with some seriously swelling hype. His sophomore album “Dicaprio 2” arrived late last year featuring a star-studded list of collaborators and producers, including Mac Miller, 6LACK, A$AP Ferg, Joey Bada$$, Ella Mai and J.Cole – landing the young MC a triple j feature album. His early alliance with the craziest cats since Outkast, EARTHGANG, and his signing to J.Cole’s label, J.I.D’s name has been popping up in all the right places. If you missed him earlier this year, now’s your chance. Tickets for all shows go on sale at 10am Monday, November 4. My Live Nation members can secure tickets first during the exclusive pre-sale beginning 10am Friday, November 1 until 9am Monday, November 4.

John Mayall

^^

When: Saturday 18th April
Where: Factory Theatre

Considered the 'Godfather of British Blues', singer, guitarist, keyboard player, blues harmonicist, guitarist, songwriter, producer and front man John Mayall is returning to the land down under for a 10-date tour. At 86 years of age and with a staggering 62 albums down, this self-professed 'road dog' hates a day off, carries his own gear at gigs and is working harder than ever. Mayall introduced the blues to Great Britain. As a musician, Mayall backed blues great John Lee Hooker, T-Bone Walker and Sonny Boy Williamson on their first English club tours before creating the Bluesbreakers in 1963 where he initiated future stars such as Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Mick Fleetwood and Mick Taylor to the scene. John Mayall's list of accolades in life is pretty impressive - a Lifetime Achievement Award from Blues Matters, an Officer of the Order of the British Empire by the Queen's 'Honours' list, induction into the Blues Hall of Fame and two Independent Blues Awards to name just a few. Today, Mayall is still working with the very best. His recent album 'Nobody Told Me' featured guest appearances from the likes of Alex Lifeson, Joe Bonamassa, Todd Rundgren and Steve Van Zandt. Continuing this tradition of working with the best in the business, his band includes Carolyn Wonderland o n guitar, Greg Rzab on bass and Jay Davenport on drums. Don't miss your chance to see this truly inspirational legend of the Blues live this April.
