James

^^

When: Friday 16th November
Where:
Metro Theatre

After selling out their first ever trip to Australia in 2016, James are preparing for a triumphant return in 2018 with their ‘Living in Extraordinary Times Tour’. This time the band are sporting a brand-new album ‘Living in Extraordinary Times” as well as all their swag of British classics. With sell out shows, great reviews and mad fans, some travelling across Australia to ensure they didn’t miss a single show, a return visit was inevitable. The album seems to touch upon contemporary fissures in society, with Tim Booth commenting: “We knew something was up when Leicester city won the league then Brexit, then Trump. It is as if we'd slipped into an alternate reality, a Philip K Dick reality. We are living in extraordinary times.” The tour will visit Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth as well as taking James to Adelaide for the very first time. “Sometimes rounds off James's first ever Australian gig and there wouldn't be many in the audience who didn't feel privileged to be there.” - The Sydney Morning Herald. “As the band left the stage for the final time, they promised not to wait 35 years next time. Let’s hope they hold true to their word.” - Scenestr. “Australia has really been missing out. It’s taken 34 years for Manchester alt-rockers James to visit Australia, but they made it worth the wait.” - The West Australian.

Juice Wrld

^^

When: Friday 4th January
Where: Enmore Theatre

All eyes are on JUICE WRLD. The genre-defying 19-year-old rapper from the suburbs of Chicago has today announced two massive headline shows for Sydney and Melbourne this January, while in the country for Falls Festival – playing the Enmore Theatre in Sydney on January 4 and The Forum in Melbourne on January 5 joined by special guest, The Kid Laroi. Since releasing his debut album “Goodbye & Good Riddance” in May, the Chicago rapper has continued to nab headlines throughout the year; knocking Drake and Kanye West off the top spot on Spotify, scoring a number of solid features with the likes of Lil Uzi Vert, and some epic freestyles to boot. Juice WRLD got his start like many of his current contemporaries – on Soundcloud. Having listed everything from rock to Chicago’s drill scene as influences, what he’s creating is a progressive combination of sounds and styles perfectly suited for 2018 and beyond. "I like all types of music. It could change up so quickly, I could be listening to Foo Fighters and then switch up and turn on my favorite Sosa mixtape." Things really started to sizzle in 2017 when his tune ‘Lucid Dreams’ began heating up, plus the fact that he’s about to drop a blockbuster collaboration with Future including the single ‘WRLD ON Drugs’ (also featuring a couple of blokes you might know named Young Thug and Lil Wayne). Juice WRLD’s two headline shows will be one of Australia’s first chances to catch one of the hottest artists on the planet right now. Live, up close and personal.

Julia Jacklin

^^

When: Friday 15th March
Where: Metro Theatre

Julia Jacklin has delivered a foray of news overnight revealing her new album Crushing will drop 22 February featuring the brand new single ‘Head Alone’ alongside the news of her biggest tour to date in March 2019! Julia’s stunning new offering ‘Head Alone’ , is the second single from her forthcoming sophomore album. ‘Head Alone’, a pointed and electrifying anthem of refusal, follows the devastating first single ‘Body ’. While upbeat in rhythm, ‘Head Alone’ maintains the pointed, complex lyricism Julia has become synonymous for. “‘Head Alone’ is not a song that comes from a singular experience. It came from two years of feeling like the sppace around me shrinking to the point where I couldn't even raise my arms. This song is me raising my arms and running into an open field. A bit of a plea to those around me to give me space and a song to remind myself that it's okay to enforce boundaries, the good people in your life will listen, adapt and still love you.” - Julia Jacklin. “The band and I worked really hard on this album, really got to know each other as friends and musicians and it's going to be super great to recreate it on stage. They're pretty personal songs but I feel like the audiences I've built up over the last couple of years are respectful and open. It's going to be a nice environment to play them first,” Julia says of the tour.

Keb' Mo' (Solo)

^^

When: Tuesday 16th April
Where: Factory Theatre

It all took off for Keb’ Mo’ in 1994 with his self-titled release, and over the years he has proven that he is a musical force that defies typical genre labels. Keb’ has also been awarded 11 Blues Foundation Awards and 6 BMI Awards for his work in TV & Film. Over the past two decades, Keb’ has cultivated a reputation as a modern master of American roots music through the understated excellence of his live and studio performances. Artists who have recorded his songs include B.B. King, Buddy Guy, the Dixie Chicks, Joe Cocker, Robert Palmer, Tom Jones, Melissa Manchester, Solomon Burke and the Zac Brown Band to name a few. The list of artist collaborations comprises a who’s who in the music industry and includes Bonnie Raitt, Taj Mahal, Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Jackson Browne, Natalie Cole, Lyle Lovett, India Arie, James Cotton, Bobby Rush, Timothy B. Schmit, Marcus Miller and many more. Add to this his TV and movie appearances, including playing his iconic version of “America The Beautiful” in the series finale of West Wing as well as at the actual White House for President Obama; and his long-time support for not-for-profit organizations such as Playing for Change, Vote For Change, the No Nukes Group and Kennedy Center’s Turnaround Arts Program where he mentors youth through music. If it was at all possible to measure success, it must be Keb’ Mo’s biography. The Compton-born blueseman, now a Nashville resident, whose career spans less than 30 years is cherished by fans internationally for his rich, distinctive voice spinning humorous and passionate stories over a guitar prowess that inspired Gibson to release the Keb Mo Bluesmaster acoustic guitar. Keb’ Mo’ will perform a handful of must-see solo performances along the east coast of Australia as well as returning as a crowd favourite to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Bluesfest, Byron Bay.
